ALLIANZ CUMANN Na mBUNSCOL

 Section H Outdoor League

Edendork P.S. hosted section H of Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 2022 Outdoor Leagues for Girls and Boys in the Arthur Mallon Park Edendork on Wednesday 1st June. Four schools participated namely: St. John’s P.S. Moy, St. Patrick’s Annaghmore, St. Patrick’s Mullinahoe and Edendork P.S.

The format of the day’s play for the boys Gaelic football was based on two sections (A & B) with section A comprising of the schools named in the Allianz League section H and section B comprising of 3 teams namely: Sacred Heart P.S. Rock, St John’s P.S. Kingisland and Edendork P.S. Development Squad.

Section ‘A’ saw St. Patrick’s Mullinahoe boys top the group winning three games against St. John’s Moy, Edendork and St. Patrick’s Annaghmore, As winners of this section, Mulliahoe will progress to the Allianz League Finals which is being held in Garvaghey on Wednesday 8th June.

St. John’s P.S. Kingsisland topped the group in Section ‘B’ and locked horns for an Edendork P.S. final competition against St. Patrick’s Mulliahoe. Ultimately, though, Master Canavan’s Ardboe side overcame Master O’Neill’s brave Kingisland lads – but the latter can be very proud of their tremendous efforts on the day. The boys from Mullinahoe lifted the Edge Innovate Cup and we wish them well in the Allianz League Finals Day. Ádh mór oraibh.

Huge credit must go to the girls teams from Edendork P.S., St. John’s P.S. Moy, St. Patrick’s P.S. Annaghmore and St. Patrick’s P.S. Mullinahoe who competed in the Allianz League Gaelic Girls Football Tournament. All battled gallantly in competition but St. John’s P.S., (who won every game played) were also victorious in a tightly fought final where they played St. Patrick’s Annaghmore in a tightly fought final and qualified for the Allianz League finals in Garvaghey. We wish the girls from St. John’s Moy, under the guidance of Mrs Donnelly, well in the Allianz League Finals Day. Ádh mór oraibh.

In Edendork’s pursuit of promoting the opportunity for children to play in a range of Gaelic games, the girls from the Sacred Heart P.S. Rock lifted the Cullen Cup for their achievement in Rounders on June 1st. Edendork P.S. girls were worthy runners up. Tremendous effort and skill displayed from both teams.

Thank you to our sponsors Edge Innovate and the Cullen family for awards and refeshments provided. A special thank you to Luke Cullen for the presentations.

A great day was had by all. Go raibh maith agaibh!
