Women’s Engineering Day

24th Jun 2022

Today our Primary Five girls were very lucky to take part in an Enthuse Engineering Programme at St. Patrick’s College, Dungannon to celebrate Women’s Engineering Day. They received a warm welcome from the staff and pupils from the school. Female employees from Specdrum Engineering explained the opportunities available with their company and how women are encouraged to join their work force. A short video showed the children of the pulleys and conveyor belts that were made in the factory. All pupils were then given the challenge to work in groups to make their own conveyor frame with pulleys using cardboard, elastic bands, sticks and glue. The staff from Specdrum then gave prizes to those whose machines were able to transport gravel. We would like to thank Mrs McHugh and all the staff from St. Patrick’s College for hosting our pupils today in particular to Mr Curry for organising today’s Enthuse Partnership Programme to celebrate Women’s Engineering Day.
